Olympic Technical Committee intensifies communication with sports federations to prepare for upcoming sporting events

The Technical Committee of the National Olympic Committee (NOC), chaired by H.E. Nasser Al Tamimi, NOC Board Member, convened on Monday to explore ways to boost technical collaboration with sports federations to advance the Olympic movement in the UAE.

Discussions focused on fostering sustainable partnerships with sports federations, defining the roles & responsibilities of committee members, and forming internal teams to liaise with specific groups of federations. These teams will work on developing tailored solutions and proposals to be presented to the NOC Board of Directors, aiming to achieve optimal outcomes across all levels.

The Technical Committee also convened with representatives from various sports federations at the NOC headquarters in Dubai. Discussions centred on upcoming sporting events, with particular emphasis on the 3rd Asian Youth Games, set to take place in Bahrain. This event is a crucial milestone in the sports calendar, serving as a qualifier for the Youth Olympic Games in Senegal next year. The committee underscored the importance of early and intensified preparations to ensure the participation of the maximum number of athletes, proudly representing the UAE on this prestigious global stage.

The committee fixed 30 January as a deadline for sports federations to submit their technical and financial plans for upcoming events. Preparations for the Asian Youth Games in Bahrain are set to commence on 1 March. Additionally, the committee urged federations to begin preparations for the 6th Islamic Solidarity Games, scheduled to take place in Saudi Arabia in November 2025.

H.E. Nasser Al Tamimi stated, “The Technical Committee is dedicated to fostering open and continuous communication with all sports federations to discuss proposals for technical development across diverse disciplines.” He added that the upcoming phase would see more collaboration and regular meetings to remain informed about updates from the organising committees of various sporting events.

Al Tamimi commended the active participation of the sports federation with the Olympic Technical Committee, highlighting their valuable initiatives and the key topics they presented, based on their extensive expertise and practical experience. “These contributions serve as a solid foundation to develop all sports. The committee is preparing to distribute the technical regulations upon receipt from the organising committees of the games, ensuring a thorough understanding of all provisions,” concluded Al Tamimi.
