Major General (r) Ismail Al Gergawi, Nasir Al Badoor, and Brigadier Khalid Shuhail honoured the NOC partners for contributing to the success of this unique event which forms part of OCA’s visits to stage it in 28 Asian countries. It will keep rolling until the last month preceding the Games; which will be co-hosted in two cities at a time (Jakarta and Palembang). Honourees included the Ministry of Education, Dubai Police, Dubai Educational Zone, Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services, Dubai Sports Council, and Athletics Federation. Thanks also to the sponsors The Bridge for Media Consultancies and the media partner in the race, and Amer Station in the Business Village in Dubai.

Major General (r) Ismail Al Gergawi stressed that the event demonstrated the UAE’s leading position on all levels of the sport after proving its ability to organise major events. “Choosing the UAE by the Olympic Council of Asia to organise this race demonstrates the country’s leading role in organising sports events, as it promotes one of the most important games, the Asian Games, which will be attended by more than 10 thousand athletes from 45 Asian countries. This is an important introductory step for our students and children who participated in the event, to spread the games amongst youngsters; who are the future of the country. These generations are looking to represent the UAE with their best efforts and raise its flag high at all levels,” he said.

Nasser Al Badoor expressed his pleasure to hold the promotional event for the Asian Games in the UAE to complement its launch in many Asian countries. “There is no doubt that the vision of the National Olympic Committee under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum to communicate with all sports institutions and bodies, to promote teamwork and consolidate the concept of teamwork is critical to the success of any event of any size. Today, at the threshold of the Asian Games, we are pleased to be part of the promotion of a major event in which we are eager to raise the UAE flag and see our athletes bringing more achievements in the name of the UAE,” he stressed.

Mohammed bin Darwish expressed his delight with the success of the promotional event of the Asian Games 2018 in the UAE and in a year that bears the cherished name of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. “It prompts organisations to redouble their efforts in various fields and make achievements befitting the scope and value of the Year; a challenge in its own right. But the UAE has proved capable and pioneering in various sectors and has got unique practices that keep impressing the entire world.

“I would wish to thank our partners for their attendance and pay tribute to the Dubai Police for adding a glamorous setting to the event; which is compatible with their prominent roles in contributing to the success of various sports events,” added Bin Darwish.
