The UAE National Olympic Committee (NOC) has taken part in the Chefs de Mission meetings for the 20th Asian Games, which will be hosted by Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, next year.

The UAE NOC was represented at the meetings by His Excellency Mohammed bin Darwish, Executive Director, and Mr Ahmed Al Tayeb, Director of the Technical and Sports Affairs Department.

Opening remarks during the meetings addressed the sports programme, venues, accommodation, catering, and the range of services to be provided to participating National Olympic Committees.

The four-day meetings coincided with the official one-year countdown celebrations for the Games, set to open on 19 September 2026, in the presence of Mr Husain Al-Musallam, Director General of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA), Mr Tayyab Ikram, Chairman of the OCA Coordination Committee for the Games, and a large number of officials.

Following the meetings, representatives of the OCA and Asian NOCs will conduct inspection visits to facilities in Nagoya, Izu, and Tokyo on 25 and 26 September.

Approximately 15,000 athletes and officials from the 45 Asian NOCs are expected to participate in the Aichi-Nagoya Games, scheduled from 19 September to 4 October 2026.

The Asian Games is the world’s second-largest multi-sport event after the Summer Olympic Games.
