The Athletes’ Commission at the National Olympic Committee reviewed technical and administrative reports and examined the outcomes of athletes’ international participations during its meeting held yesterday morning (Thursday) via video conferencing, chaired by His Excellency Faris Mohammed Al Mutawa, Secretary General of the National Olympic Committee and Chairman of the Athletes’ Commission.

The meeting was attended by Yousuf Mirza Al Hammadi, Vice Chairman of the AC, along with members Abdullah Al Marri, Omar Al Marzouqi, Saif bin Futtais, Mohammed Al Nakhai, Mohammed Al Nubi Al Hammadi, Aisha Al Ali, Safiya Al Sayegh, and Saud Al Zaabi.

At the outset of the meeting, the Athletes’ Commission extended its highest expressions of gratitude and appreciation to His Highness Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, President of the National Olympic Committee, in recognition of his continued support for athletes across various sporting platforms, affirming that the achievements of 2025 will remain firmly embedded in the memory of national sport.

The NOC AC commended the outstanding successes achieved by the UAE’s male and female champions, led by securing one of the best three historical participations at the Asian Youth Games held in the Kingdom of Bahrain, following the achievement of 31 medals of various colours. This result placed the UAE first among Arab nations and eighth overall in the general standings, with the participation of 45 Asian countries.

The NOC AC also highlighted the remarkable success achieved at the sixth edition of the Islamic Solidarity Games, hosted by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, with a total of 27 medals of various colours. In addition, it praised the major achievement recorded at the third edition of the GCC Beach Games in Muscat, after securing 23 medals of various colours, marking the UAE’s best-ever participation in the history of this event.

During the meeting, the Athletes’ Commission approved the designation of its representatives for the General Assembly meeting of the National Olympic Committee, scheduled to be held on 16 February. The meeting also reviewed the Sports Code of Conduct and the Values and Ethics Regulations, in preparation for their circulation to all athletes.

The committee further reviewed the outcomes of its participation in Athletes’ Commission meetings at both regional and international levels. This included participation in the 12th International Athletes’ Forum, organised by the IOC Athletes' Commission on 11 and 12 June in Lausanne, with the participation of more than 400 athlete representatives from countries around the world.

NOC AC members Mohammed Al Nakhai and Aisha Jassim Al Ali took part in the forum, which discussed key issues related to athletes and ways to further develop support systems provided through national and international Olympic committees. The forum also reviewed preparations for upcoming Olympic Games, namely Milano Cortina 2026, Los Angeles 2028, the French Alps 2030, and Brisbane 2032.

In addition, the Athletes’ Commission participated in the sixth Athletes’ Forum organised by the Olympic Council of Asia in September in Astana, in cooperation with Olympic Solidarity. The forum brought together 120 delegates representing 42 Asian National Olympic Committees, alongside the participation of several representatives of international sports organisations, foremost among them the International Olympic Committee.
