The Board of Directors of the NOC approves the appointment of Standing Committee Chairpersons

The Board of Directors of the National Olympic Committee met yesterday morning in Dubai, chaired by Sheikh Rashid bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Vice President of the National Olympic Committee, and in the presence of H.E. Dr. Ahmed Belhoul Al Falasi, Vice President of the Committee, President of the Executive Office, H.E. Faris Al Mutawa, Secretary General of the Committee, and members of the Board of Directors of the National Olympic Committee, as the appointment of the Chairpersons of the Committee's Standing Committees was approved, with 7 different committees according to the Olympic Committee's statute.

 

The attendees began the meeting by emphasizing the importance of the current period that started the countdown to the launch of the most important multi-sport event when more than 10,000 male and female athletes from 206 countries will compete during the 33rd Summer Olympic Games to be held in the French capital, Paris, during the period from July 26 to August 11.

 

The Board of Directors of the Olympic Committee approved the appointment of H.E. Abdulaziz Al-Sulaiman as Chairman of the Planning Committee, H.E. Nasser Al Tamimi as Chairman of the Technical Committee, H.E. Dr. Hashel Al Teneiji as Chairman of the Sports Medicine and Safety Committee, H.E. Qais Al Dhaleei as Chairman of the Financial Resources and Marketing Committee, H.E. Nora Al Suwaidi as Chairwoman of the Gender Equality Committee, H.E. Mansour Bouesibah as Chairman of the Sports and Environment Committee, and Brigadier Dr. Mohammed Abdullah Al Marar as Chairman of the Sports Dispute Resolution Committee.

 

The Council also approved the 2023 closing account, the estimated operating budget for 2024, and the participation budgets for the same year, which include the 4th Winter Youth Olympic Games that concluded in Gangwon, South Korea, on the first of February; the Olympic Games in Paris; the 1st edition of the Gulf Games for Indoor Sports and Martial Arts to be hosted by Riyadh, capital of the sisterly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, next September; and the 6th Asian Indoor Games in Thailand next November.

 

During its meeting, the Board of Directors of the National Olympic Committee also approved the Code of Conduct and Ethics for Participation in Championships and Sports Events, which included commitments, provisions and objectives that include promoting a culture of sports ethics, cooperation and partnership between all representatives of delegations and sports and official missions, and establishing sports values ​​and ethics, and providing a supportive sports environment.

 

The Council also approved the formation of the working team for the ninth edition of the National Sports Day, chaired by H.E. Abdulaziz Al-Sulaiman, member of the Board of Directors of the Olympic Committee, to follow up on all developments of the community initiative organized annually in response to the call of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, may God protect him, to designate a day to practice various sports, physical and promotional activities for all segments of society.

 

Sheikh Rashid bin Humaid Al Nuaimi emphasized the importance of preparation for the upcoming eventful period, especially since this year is the Olympic Games year in which athletes double their efforts to reach the desired readiness. He pointed out that Olympic work is an integrated system in which the athlete represents the most prominent element, and accordingly, goals are set and plans aimed at enabling, refining his capabilities, experiences and improving his performance are identified; Not only at the level of competitions, but also by building his personality in a way that contributes to presenting promising sports and social generations that compete in major forums with confidence and competence.

 

Sheikh Rashid bin Humaid Al Nuaimi indicated that the United Arab Emirates is a fertile and ideal environment for excellence and creativity thanks to the vision of our wise leadership that has set clear paths for raising the levels of athletes, refining their experiences and developing their skills, according to the best practices and standards, expressing his confidence in presenting a unique inaugural version of the Gulf Youth Games, which enjoys direct follow-up and great support from HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Second Deputy Ruler of Dubai, President of the National Olympic Committee, not only during the current period but since His Highness launched the idea in 2016 to allocate a sports forum for Gulf youth for the first time; In order to invest the young energies of the citizens of the Cooperation Council and allocate the appropriate space for them to showcase their talents and develop their abilities.

 

For his part, H.E. Faris Al Mutawa urged the new chairmen of the standing committees of the National Olympic Committee to coordinate efforts and work at an accelerated pace; In line with the ongoing developments witnessed by the Olympic movement and the quest to design advanced strategies and develop mechanisms for innovative solutions, especially since the committees specialize in an authentic and important aspect in driving and developing Olympic work areas that have witnessed great growth in recent times at all levels.
