Al Mutawa receives Vice President of the Executive Committee of the International Volleyball Federation



His Excellency Faris Al Mutawa, Secretary General of the National Olympic Committee, received yesterday morning in Dubai Her Excellency Bouchra Hajij, Vice President of the Executive Committee of the International Volleyball Federation, President of the African and Moroccan Federations, and the accompanying delegation, as part of activating fruitful partnerships and enhancing existing cooperation based on strengthening relations with international sports organizations, federations and bodies supporting the Olympic movement in general.

 

The meeting reviewed the most important topics on the global sports scene and various developments, especially those related to participation and major events in Olympic sports hosted by the United Arab Emirates annually, whether in qualifiers for the Olympic Games or others related to world championships in many individual and team games.

 

His Excellency Faris Al Mutawa listened to a summary by the Vice President of the Executive Committee of the International Volleyball Federation of the most important initiatives, activities and programs of the International Federation for the advancement of the sport at different levels, in addition to the Federation's efforts to achieve the principle of gender equality in its internal committees, most notably the Athletes Committee.

 

For her part, Her Excellency Bouchra Hajij emphasized the importance of exploring frameworks of cooperation with the National Olympic Committee, as an active representative and prominent member of the Olympic movement, praising the large capabilities, high quality sports facilities and infrastructure, as well as other natural and geographical features that the UAE possesses; which is a major attraction to host many major events and a preferred choice for champions and athletes from around the world to hold their training camps and carry out their special preparation periods in an ideal atmosphere and a motivated environment for excellence and achievement.

 

For his part, His Excellency Faris Al Mutawa welcomed the visiting delegation during the meeting, expressing his pride and appreciation for the fruitful experiences and ambitious programs of the International Volleyball Federation; As the meeting comes within a series of joint meetings and meetings that the Olympic Committee recently held with a number of international sports federations and bodies; In implementation of the vision of His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, President of the National Olympic Committee, on the need to activate communication with various relevant institutions and bodies and learn about best practices in order to achieve leadership and reach the desired results.

 

The meeting was attended by Ali Ghanem Al Kuwari, President of the West Asian Volleyball Federation, President of the Qatar Volleyball Federation, Firas Halawaji, Secretary General of the Arab Volleyball Federation, Dr. Khaled Al Zghibi, President of the Saudi Volleyball Federation, Mohammed El Hoss, President of the Algerian Volleyball Federation, as well as His Excellency Abdulaziz Al Sulaiman, Member of the Board of Directors of the National Olympic Committee, and Mohammed Bin Darwish, Executive Director of the Committee.
