Her Excellency Eng. Azza bint Sulaiman, Assistant Secretary-General for Administrative and Financial Affairs of the National Olympic Committee, welcomed on Tuesday morning at the headquarters of the Committee in Dubai, Sir Miang, Vice President of the International Olympic Committee, with the aim of reviewing the developments of the Olympic movement and the most prominent upcoming sports forums at all aspects.
During the meeting, Bint Sulaiman reviewed the most important topics related to the committee's performance and its various activities, emphasizing the outcomes of the last meeting that brought together H.H Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, President of the National Olympic Committee with Sir Miang last year, and witnessed the discussion of many important topics at the table of the International Olympic Committee including the topic of gender balance and the 15 recommendations contained in the Olympic agenda known as 2020+5.
On her part, H.E Eng. Azza bint Sulaiman welcomed the guest, as the meeting started by discussion on the framework of completing the committee’s efforts to strengthen bilateral relations, under the superision of H.E Dr. Ahmed Belhoul Al Falasi, First Vice President of the National Olympic Committee and Head of the Executive Office, on the importance of activating joint cooperation with all Olympic and sports institutions and organizations. Since this visit is not the first for the Vice-President of the International Olympic Committee, which reflects the important position of the UAE on the map of the international Olympic movement. She said: Yesterday we signed a memorandum of understanding with the Uzbek Olympic Committee and today we meet with a prominent official at the parent Olympic institution, and we are keen to build partnerships and open new channels of communication with everyone and create an Olympic movement that consolidates the name of the United Arab Emirates and the National Olympic Committee and enhances the bonds of cooperation and mutual understanding between sports institutions.
Bint Sulaiman stated that the most important forums, benefits and events in the field of sports were reviewed during the next phase, including the Summer Olympic Games in Paris in 2024, in addition to events organized or participated in by the National Olympic Committee, including the International Conference on Sports Medicine in 2024 in Dubai, and the Gulf Games For youth in 2023, and what these important dates represent as an added value to the work and performance of the Olympic Committee and the Olympic Movement alike.
In turn, Sir Miang expressed his happiness with the meeting, which is renewed after nearly a year, with the National Olympic Committee, which is an important partner, an active and influential member of the Olympic movement, with its various decisions and initiatives whose main goal is to raise the levels of athletes and work together to implement the lofty Olympic principles and promote values of friendship, excellence and respect.
