NOC Executive Office hails Al Tayeb’s obtaining Executive Masters in Sports Management

Ahmed Al Tayeb becomes first Emirati to obtain the degree from IOC

The Executive Office of the National Olympic Committee praised the efforts of Ahmed Al Tayeb, Director of Technical and Sports Affairs at the NOC, culminating in obtaining the Executive Masters in Sports Organisations Management from the International Olympic Committee. Al Tayeb has thus become the first Emirati to obtain this degree, which took a full year of research and study.


The Executive Office of the NOC made a statement to this effect during a meeting held yesterday at the premises of the NOC yesterday in Dubai under the chairmanship of HE Humaid bin Mohammed Al Qattami, Vice President of the NOC. Also attended HE Mohammed Ibrahim Al Mahmoud, 2nd Vice President and Vice Chairman of the Executive Office of the NOC; and HE Talal Ahmed Al Shinqeti, Secretary General of the NOC. Several members of the Executive Office were also present namely HE Major General Ahmed Nasir Al Raysi, HE Sheikh Eng. Salim bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Brigadier Ahmed Hamdan Al Zayoudi, Dr. Mai Al Jabir, Eng. Azza bint Suleiman.

Al Tayeb was selected among 90 candidates from 90 countries and was among the final selection of 35 candidates admitted to Executive Masters programme; which is divided over four intensive periods in three countries namely Switzerland, Canada and Macedonia. Switzerland hosted the final leg; which included a presentation of the research and finalizing all formalities of obtaining the scientific degree. The course covered seven different disciplines: governance & strategy, financial management & marketing, sports organization management, modern communication and social media, human resources management, sports events management, and sports projects management.

“This model of Emiratis reflects the immense efforts and dedication to achieve the highest results in sports and academic fields among others. We are thrilled with the successful efforts of one of our capable members who is making every effort to represent the nation in big events. It is a manifestation of the directives of His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Maktoum, President of the NOC, to offer Emiratis exposures to learn, improve and pick up experience and skills,” said Al Qattami.

“We highly commend this successful Olympic and sports step and the will to realize goals set. We need a vision of this class to be developed amongst our staff for the benefit of all. We are proud that one of our Emirati staff members has obtained this coveted degree and look forward to turning the vision of our leaders into a reality,” said Al Shinqeti.


The Executive Office also endorsed the formation of the team of the National Sports Day 2020 under the leadership of HE Sheikh Eng. Salim bin Sultan Al Qasimi. It comprises of Ahmed Barakat Al Abdouli from the General Sports Authority, Saeed Ali Al Ajil from Sharjah Sports Council, Talal Al Hashemi from Abu Dhabi Sports Council, Anoud Saeed Al Falasi from the Ministry of Health, Fatima Al Raisi from Emirates Women's Sports Committee, Saleh Hassan Al Hammadi from the Ministry of Community Development, Ahmed Al Raeesi representing Ajman and Abdullah Salem Qanzul is a representative of the Emirate of Umm Al Quwain, Fahd Abdullah bin Juma representative of the Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah and Captain Hamid Khamis Majid Al Ali of the Police Sports Federation, Fatima Al Raisi from the Emirates Women's Sports Committee, and Mohammed Saeed Bin Darwish, Executive Director of the National Olympic Committee.

The Executive Office also approved the formation of the team of the 8th School Olympics Program 2019-2020, headed by Brigadier Saleh Mohammed bin Ashour, and members comprising Mohammed Saeed bin Darwish, Ahmed Ibrahim Al-Tayeb, Omar Abdulrahman Al Ali, Ahmed Mohammed Al-Mahri, Dr. Najla Hussein Sajwani and Qasim Al - Taher.

The meeting reviewed the program of registration of medical teams and the program of medical tests of athletes. Sports. Dr. Abdullah Al-Rahoumi, Vice Chairman of the Sports Medicine Committee, gave a visual presentation about the follow-up of registration of athletes medical forms including information about the health condition of each athlete prior to participation in sports events.
